Team Member Profile - Peter Overbeek

Hello, I am Peter Overbeek, a member of the Weavabel team.

I am located in Den Haag, The Netherlands.  I am the Branding Strategist at Weavabel.

What does your role consist of on a daily basis and what makes it enjoyable?

My role in the Weavabel team consists of getting in new business by pro-actively or re-actively supporting the sales team with branding proposals.  Offering a branding service to customers and potential customers is a plus for a trimming company like Weavabel in this current market. Being sales driven and having so many different customers makes the job super creative, flexible and diverse!

Where did you qualify? Tell us a bit about your background.

I did my education at the Graphic Lyceum Utrecht in The Netherlands.  After my graduation, I started working in the advertising business which I did until the previous crisis in 2008 hit the market.  This forced me to search for another challenge and led me to G-Star Raw, the Dutch Denim giant.  Instead of working in the marketing department, I started working in the artwork department.  I loved it so much that I have never returned to marketing again!  After G-Star I worked for several companies like Kuyichi, America Today and Gaastra.

What inspires you?

Basically, everything can inspire me.  I see inspiration (and opportunities) in everything around me. My surroundings, nature, packaging, people... The world is full of inspiration!

You are a new addition to the crayon box - what colour would you be and why?

I would be blue. My heart is in denim and obviously denim is strongly related to blue!

What is your favorite brand and why?

I would say there are several brands which inspire me.  G-Star because of my time there, although I do think they are a bit too commercial these days.  Lee, a no-nonsense denim brand with a history that goes way back.  And there are a few brands which I love but which I can't afford to wear! ;-)

Who is your hero of all time and why?

I am not a person who adores persons or believes in heroes.  Although, I can be inspired by many persons in my life.

How lucky are you and why?

I am lucky to have a great family and to live in good health, that for me is real luck.

What is your favourite quote/saying?

Etiam si omnes, ego non.

It's a Latin phrase, which translates to English approximately as "Even if all others, not I"

What is your power breakfast?

Dutch breakfast:  cheese sandwich and coffee!

If you explained yourself to a stranger, what three words would you use?

Enthusiastic, creative and energetic.

If you were a branding trim, what would you be?

A 3D printed metal logo.
